Go either to Concepcion or Asuncion to the river port and ask about boats. Sorry, word of mouth is the best I can suggest in that part of the world.

The only thing I can suggest is to go to Bahia Negra and ask about him. Everyone knows him there.

My question is certainly simple: How to contact Julio and, if there are such people, other owners of vessels that ply the river.

I enjoyed your reports!

Hi Jamie,

Nice, that was very poetic. But even though the main flame is out, the pilot light still remains intact. I hope the cockneys are treating you as well as Sonko.

On the last part of this day, you'll see the Abancay mountain for quite awhile in the distance. When you get to the base of the mountain at the confluence of the two rivers, just take a left and head downstream. Or just follow one of the thousands of tourists you'll encounter at that point. Definitely camp at the confluence. The only problem is that it's a treacherous life-risking maneuver to get water from the rushing river.

Turn right to get to Mysal from the split. It will probably take a couple hours to get to that point from the bottom. If you don't get to the campsite within ten minutes, you went the wrong way.

This was our 3rd night, but some groups go ridiculously slow and don't get there until the 4th or 5th night.

I'm glad to see that the site is back up. I'm feeling mixed emotions about YOUR trip coming to an end. To me, it always seemed like it would be never-ending, something as reliable as the sun rise. It was a lifestyle and you were the torch bearer keeping the light of travel alive. And now that light has gone out, extinguishing the life that is life of the road. I'm happy to know that you're safe and I hope that by now you've sufficiently recovered your health and made a successful retransition into suburbia nervosa consciousness of US life.
